Hi, I have been id mobile for over 3 years on two different devices. I usually get 100gb but over last few months it has recently being getting used but a lot more than normal. I use to have over 20gb left at the end of the month. Now 100gb get used in 15 days even on 4g.this is not a good service. I have an iPhone for my work phone which has th same plan with someone else (EE) we never use no where near this and we are on this phone more.

could someone check this and sort this issue out or at least tell me where I’m using all my internet and why?

thanks,

Hi @Eathan123,

Thanks for getting in touch, I’m really sorry to hear this has been frustrating, especially when you’ve noticed such a big change in your data usage.

From what you’ve described, it’s unlikely to be a fault with the network itself. A sudden increase in data usage is usually linked to things happening on the device, such as new apps, updates, or background activity using data without it being obvious.

A few common causes include:

  • Apps refreshing or updating in the background
  • Automatic app updates over mobile data
  • Streaming services using higher quality (especially on 4G)
  • Cloud backups or photo syncing running on mobile data
  • New apps that use data more heavily than expected

To help you pinpoint where your data is going, you can check this directly on your iPhone:

  • Go to Settings > Mobile Data (or Cellular)
  • Scroll down to see a list of apps and how much data each one has used

From there, you can also turn off mobile data for specific apps you don’t want using your allowance:

  • In the same menu, simply toggle off the apps you’d prefer to restrict

It may also help to:

  • Turn off Wi-Fi Assist (this can switch to mobile data automatically if Wi-Fi is weak)
  • Disable Background App Refresh for apps you don’t need constantly updating
  • Ensure app updates are set to Wi-Fi only

If your usage has genuinely increased due to how you’re using your phone, it might be worth considering a plan with a higher data allowance for peace of mind — especially if you’re now relying on mobile data more than before.

If after checking this something still doesn’t seem right, feel free to come back to us and we can help look into it further with you.

Hope this helps a bit!

Regards,
