mobile signal poor in new area. as 3 have now merged with vodafone will i be able to use vodafone

Best answer by Plawton

Hi @RbeccaG,

Thanks for getting in touch.

Although Three and Vodafone have merged as companies, iD Mobile customers are still connected to and regulated by the iD Mobile/Three network only at this time. This means customers would not currently be able to connect to the Vodafone network or access Vodafone-specific network features and services.

Your service, coverage, and available features will therefore continue to operate through the iD Mobile network as normal.

We’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing poor signal in your new area. If you haven’t already, we’d recommend checking the local coverage in your postcode and trying some basic troubleshooting such as restarting your device or resetting your network settings.

If the issue continues, our Live Chat team would be happy to investigate this further for you: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

Hi Gemma,

I am having the same issue and your reply contradicts what is advertised on the id website. I moved to id because I know there is strong vodafone signal in my home and workplace AND id advertise that customers will automatically be connected to the strongest network out of 3 or Vodafone.

Please could you clarify whether the vodafone network is available to id customers or not? If not, i think you are mis-selling to your customers.

Thanks.

Omg

Once you are writing we can use Vodafone network and once we cannot....make up you minds!!

On idmobile website there is info ID sim cards will connect to the strongest signal of 3/VF

But mine connects only to VF when it completely looses 3's signal.... And it is annoying as with one bar internet works hardly.... But 1 meter away when no 3's signal it switches to full one from Vodafone

What is a reason? Why is doesn't switch to the strongest one straight away?

Hi @Plawton,

Thank you for your message. We’re sorry for the confusion and frustration this has caused.

To clarify, customers are gradually gaining access to the Vodafone network following the merger of Three UK and Vodafone. This is being introduced on a mast-by-mast basis across the UK, so availability will vary depending on your exact location.

Where Vodafone masts have been upgraded and are available in your area, your device will automatically connect to the strongest available signal, whether that is Three or Vodafone. However, as the rollout is still ongoing, customers will continue to primarily connect to the Three network in many areas for the time being.

We’re sorry for any misunderstanding this may have caused and appreciate you taking the time to raise your concerns.

Thanks.
