Question

Multiple replacement SIMs and BRAND NEW SIM rejected from network after roaming in Turkey (Correct APN set, HLR re-provision needed maybe)

My line has completely stopped registering on the network in the UK after returning from Turkey, meaning I cant use my data and cant recieve texts and calls as well as sending them. My phone detects a strong signal on network "3" (-92 dBm), but the service status displays "Voice service: Emergency Calls Only" and "Data service: Disconnected". Another member in my family, who has an iPhone 15, uses the same network and has no problems at all.

Here's the methods I used to try and fix the issue (pictures included):

  • I have tried 2 replacement SIM cards and a brand new one received today. I have tested them in both my Redmi 6A (primary phone) and an iPhone 7 - the exact same network rejection happens across all cards and phones. (2 images displaying signal)
  • Verified and manually saved the correct iD Mobile APN settings (APN: id, MMSC: [http://mms.um.idmobile.co.uk:10021/mmsc], MCC: 234, MNC: 20, MVNO: GID 0305), but data remains completely disconnected. (3 images displaying settings of APN on Redmi 6A)
  • Checking *#*#4636#*#* displays VoLTE provisioned: OFF, Voice/Data network type: Unknown, and SMSC: update error. (3 images displaying Phone info - first two images show that there is signal, but in third picture there isnt, because the signal is always coming in then disappearing, on Redmi 6A)
  • Resetting network settings and doing manual network selection both fail to connect. (On Redmi 6A)

Since these exact settings and brand new SIM card fail on two separate handsets, I'm assuming my profile is stuck in an unprovisioned roaming state on the network. And doing some research, it seems that there isn't a problem with the phones and could be a problem with my account profile from the other side, not mine, and can be fixed with a 'HLR reset' if that is correct. I have requested customer service if they're able to reset my network profile from their side twice, but got ignored instead. Would it be possible if someone could please send me a message to clear this block and reset my account profile on the HLR?

    Hi @Books.

Thank you for sharing. I’m sorry for the problems you’ve had since returning from Turkey. Thank you for the detail on what you’ve already tried.

Could you please let us know whether you have activated the replacement SIM you are using? If it hasn’t been activated yet, you can do this at www.idmobile.co.uk/yoursim.

Once it is activated, please restart your phone and let us know how you get on.

    Thanks,

    Marquerita
