new phone

Hi iD Mobile,

I recently joined iD Mobile and requested to transfer my existing mobile number over using a PAC code.

Since setting up my new phone, I’ve noticed that my mobile data is extremely slow whenever I’m not connected to Wi-Fi. My phone is also consistently showing 4G, despite expecting 5G coverage where available.

I have made my old/transferred number the primary number on my phone, but I’m unsure whether the number transfer has been fully completed or whether there is an issue with my SIM/eSIM or network settings.

Could you please check:

• Whether my PAC transfer has been completed successfully and my old number is now fully active on my iD Mobile account
• Whether 5G is correctly enabled on my account/SIM
• Whether there are any provisioning or network issues causing my mobile data to be unusually slow
• Whether there are any settings I need to change on my phone

The difference between Wi-Fi and mobile data is significant, and the mobile connection is currently making the phone difficult to use when I’m away from Wi-Fi.

Please could you look into this and advise me on how to resolve it?

Kind regards,
Mia

    Hi @Mimichin,

Thanks for getting in touch. 5G is enabled as standard on iD Mobile plans, so there isn’t anything additional that needs to be activated on your account for you to access 5G where it’s available.

As you’re experiencing slow mobile data, please try the following:

    1. Restart your phone.
    2. Turn Airplane Mode on for around 60 seconds, then switch it back off.
    3. Check your mobile network settings and make sure 5G is enabled or your preferred network type is set to 5G/Auto.
    4. Make sure Mobile Data is enabled and, if you’re using a dual-SIM device, confirm your iD Mobile SIM/eSIM is selected for mobile data.
    5. Try manually selecting iD Mobile/Three UK within your Network Selection settings, then switch Automatic Network Selection back on.
    6. Perform a network settings reset:
      • iPhone: Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
      • Android: Settings > General Management/System > Reset > Reset Network Settings or Reset Mobile Network Settings.
    7. Restart the phone once the reset has completed and test your mobile data again.

Please note that resetting your network settings may remove saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth connections.

If the correct transferred number is already showing within your iD Mobile account, this is a good indication that the number transfer has completed. If you’re still experiencing slow data after completing the above troubleshooting, please contact our Live Chat team so they can check your account and investigate further:
