No 5g signal on new handset despite e-sim

I recently upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy S20 + 5g to a Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra. I checked the idmobile 5g compatibility list to ensure the handset was 5g compatible. I switched physical sims and noticed that the phone was only able to get 4gLTE in areas that I already previously had great 5g connectivity.

I requested an esim which was activated promptly but found the same issue.

I reset mobile settings and did a manual roam to try and get 5g going but no avail.

Spoke to a live chat agent who repeatedly seemed to give me scripted answers of my new phone isn't 5g compatible and that there are network repairs. I challenged this as my old phone still gets 5g signal in those areas and I had double checked my new handset is compatible.

The agent then told me the actual issue is that I need an esim - ignoring the fact I had already explained I had done this. Feel as though the agent didn't want to look into my technical issues and was just going through stock answers which were untrue.

Any help on how I, or ID, can help me get 5g?

    Hi @Neil.Buzz,

We're sorry to hear about the issues you've been experiencing with your coverage.

We appreciate how frustrating it can be when the service you're receiving doesn't match what you'd expect, particularly if the coverage checker is showing strong coverage in the areas where you're having problems.

As a first step, we'd recommend checking the coverage checker again to see if there are any reported issues or maintenance affecting the locations concerned: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-support/coverage

If the issue persists, please contact our Live Chat team so they can investigate further and check whether there are any network-related issues affecting your service: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

They'll be able to review your account and discuss any available options based on the outcome of their investigation.

    Regards,
