Hello. A few days ago I got caught in the rain. Since then my mobile data has been not been able to work even in areas i had good/excellent coverage prior to the rain.

For what I can see:

  • Sim card itself appears to be fine (Sim was not removed from phones sim holder during the rain or after until i inspected it today.)
  • Data is on and neither it or location works. Calls and texts only go through on wifi
  • Bluetooth works fine

    Sounds like your phone may have sustained damage from exposure to rain. Try your SIM in a different handset to confirm this.

    There were areas on the phone damaged by the rain so its very likely whatever it uses for sim was also damaged

    @gozzy -

    I’m sorry to hear you got caught out by the rain! Unfortunately, it sounds like the phone has been damaged by the rain. You can confirm by getting a replacement SIM from a Currys store, activating it, and seeing the results. Or as @WelshPaul suggested, trying your SIM in another handset. Thanks.

    Hello. I tried WelshPauls test and it very much seems that the handset itself is damaged.

    Thank you for your help. I had a suspicion this was the case but wanted to be sure. Thank you again

    Hi @gozzy ,

    I’m really sorry to hear that your phone was damaged after getting caught in the rain, but I’m glad you were able to test and confirm this. It does sound like the handset itself may have been affected.

    I’m pleased we could help you check this with iD Mobile
