Question

No data coverage

My 4G/internet is not working once I enter any building that isn’t covered by WiFi. I have sufficient data allowance in my package, however it is not letting me use the internet when I am off WiFi. Outdoors is ok but one bar/No Service inside any building. I bought three sims for three different handsets and all three are having the same issue. All three handsets have been through the recommended steps - toggle airplane mode/switch phone off & on again etc and nothing has made a difference

Hi @ams321

Thank you for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing problems with your mobile data indoors. I understand how frustrating this must be, especially as you've tested three different SIMs and handsets and are experiencing the same issue.

As you've already completed the basic troubleshooting, please try the following additional checks:

  • Set all three handsets to 4G only, as 4G can provide a more stable connection than 5G in some locations.
  • Check that mobile data is enabled and that your iD Mobile SIM is selected as the preferred SIM for mobile data.
  • Turn Wi-Fi off completely and check whether the handset shows 4G/LTE when inside the building.
  • Check Data Saver/Low Data Mode and make sure it isn't restricting mobile data.
  • Reset the network settings on the affected handset. Please note that this can remove saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth connections.
  • If your handset supports it, manually select the iD Mobile/Three network by switching off Automatic Network Selection, allowing the available networks to load, and selecting the appropriate network. You can then switch automatic selection back on after testing.
  • If possible, test the service near a window and further inside the building. This can help establish whether the issue is related to indoor signal penetration.

As all three SIMs are experiencing the same issue across different handsets, this may indicate that the problem is related to the network coverage in the buildings you're visiting rather than the SIMs or handsets themselves.

If the issue continues after trying the above, please contact us via Live Chat so we can check the coverage for the specific locations and investigate this further with you.

I have done all of the above except reset network settings, as not prepared to lose passwords for a problem that didn’t exist before I used this SIM.
Two of us have worked in the same building for six years with no data issues whatsoever prior to joining ID mobile so I don’t accept that there’s an issue with coverage in the building

Hi @ams321.

Thanks for confirming what you’ve already tried, and I understand you’re not comfortable doing a network reset if it could affect saved passwords.

To be certain about coverage in your building, could you please share your full postcode

Thanks,

Marquerita
