Question

Poor Signal

Ive taken up a contract with ID mobile and regretting it. Never had an issue beforehand and the coverage said all good when I checked and changed. Initially I had issues whereby couldn't call out and that was resolved. I have now got issues with calls just hanging up mid sentence. Low signal everywhere I go. I get people on the phone say I keep cutting out and they can't hear me or I can hear myself. Its just continuous and im not very happy im stuck in this contract. Any ideas please? I dont think I will be renewing if this carries on as I need a reliable connection and signal strength whi h I previously had with Vodafone for years.

    Hi @DesignsbySarah1989,

I’m really sorry to hear you’re having ongoing issues with calls cutting out and low signal.

As a first step, we’d recommend running through a few quick checks as this type of issue is often linked to network registration or settings:

    • Restart your phone
    • Toggle Airplane Mode ON for 30 seconds, then OFF
    • Check if WiFi Calling is enabled (this can help improve call stability indoors)
    • Try switching between 4G/5G Auto and 4G only in your mobile network settings
    • Remove and reinsert the SIM (if physical SIM)

    Network reset (recommended)

    • iPhone:
      • Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    • Android:
      • Settings > System / General Management > Reset > Reset Network Settings

This can often resolve issues where calls drop or audio becomes unstable.

If the issue continues after trying the above, we’d recommend contacting our Live Chat team so they can run a full check on your line and investigate further, as they’ll be able to see if there’s anything network-side affecting your service specifically: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

    Regards,

I completely agree with this customer. I’ve experienced the same poor signal with iD Mobile. Wherever I go, including Birmingham city centre where I’d expect strong coverage, people tell me my voice cuts out, and calls sometimes drop entirely. I never had these problems with Three. Although iD Mobile is cheaper than other providers, I wouldn’t recommend it given the unreliable signal. I’d rather have paid an extra £5 a month for a more reliable provider, such as Three or Vodafone.

iD Mobile’s customer service gave me the same unhelpful response seen in this thread: repeated troubleshooting without acknowledging the poor signal. They also won’t let me leave my two-year contract without paying the remaining balance. I’ll now take my complaint to the ombudsman to try to leave without paying the full remaining cost, so I can switch to a provider with more reliable coverage.

It’s simple: poor signal and poor service. I don’t believe they should expect me to stay and pay for a service they cannot deliver.

    Hi @blueberry77,

I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a poor experience.

We appreciate that signal issues can be incredibly frustrating, particularly when they affect your ability to make and receive calls reliably. While troubleshooting is often the first step in identifying whether the issue is related to coverage, the device, or the SIM, we understand that this can be frustrating if you've already tried these steps without success.

If you've already raised the issue and it has been escalated, the relevant team will need to complete their investigation and provide their findings. If you're unhappy with the final outcome, you're entitled to follow the complaints process and seek independent review where appropriate.

We're sorry that your experience hasn't met your expectations and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

    Regards,
