Hi @TimW

Thank you for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing such poor and inconsistent signal, particularly indoors. I completely understand your frustration when you're regularly seeing only 0–1 bars and having to rely on Wi-Fi Calling to make calls.

I've noted that you've already tried a SIM swap and that the fault checker isn't showing an issue. Although the coverage checker may show good or excellent coverage for the postcode, indoor coverage can still be affected by building materials, local signal conditions and changes to the network.

  • As you've noticed the issue becoming worse since the 3G switch-off, we'd recommend trying the following:
  • Set your handset to 4G only rather than allowing it to automatically switch between 4G and 5G. 4G can provide a more stable connection in some locations.
  • Restart your handset after changing the network setting and allow a few minutes for it to reconnect.
  • Turn Airplane Mode on for around 30 seconds, then switch it off to refresh the network connection.
  • Check that your handset software is fully up to date.
  • If you're using a physical SIM, remove and reinsert the SIM after switching the handset off.
  • If possible, test your SIM in another compatible unlocked handset to establish whether the issue follows the SIM or is specific to your handset.
  • Try making calls in different areas around your property, including near windows or upstairs, to see whether the signal improves. This can help establish whether the issue is specifically related to indoor coverage.

For iPhone:

Settings > Mobile Service/Mobile Data > Voice & Data > 4G/LTE

For Android:

Settings > Connections/Network & Internet > Mobile Networks > Network Mode/Preferred Network Type > 4G/LTE

If you've tried all of the above and the signal remains at 0–1 bars at LL55 1EN, please contact us via Live Chat so we can access your account, carry out further checks and discuss the next steps with you.

We appreciate that Wi-Fi Calling shouldn't feel like the only way you're able to make calls, and we're sorry that your experience hasn't matched the coverage information you've seen.

ok, tried all of above. I had before but have tried again. No better. Don’t have 5G option anyway, only 3 or 4, and Volte

been on chat with you, new sim being sent to try.

will report results.
