Question

Signal Strength West Oxford OX2

I am in West Oxford and have a Vodafone and iD Mobile eSIM in the same 5G phone in my house. Both eSIMs are stored on a third party 9eSIM eUICC.

The phone shows 4G+ for both Vodafone and iD Mobile but Vodafone has more strength bars.

Running a network speed test and iD Mobile is woeful.  Vodafone often hits well in excess of 100mbps, iD Mobile 20-30 mbps in exactly the same location.

I am using a private DNS - Quad9 with both eSIMs.

So clearly not very good and more investigations to do.

Update.  It is the same just using auto DNS in network settings.  iD Mobile network speed hasn';t improved during the day.

    Hi @CRMS,

    Thanks for sharing your findings.

Based on the setup you've described, we can't guarantee the performance or compatibility of a third-party 9eSIM eUICC solution with the iD Mobile network. While it may function correctly for calls, texts, and data, it isn't a device configuration that has been tested or officially supported by iD Mobile.

The difference in speed could be caused by a number of factors, including:

    • Network coverage and capacity in your area.
    • The network bands being selected by each provider.
    • Device compatibility with the network.
    • The third-party eSIM hardware itself.

As the iD Mobile eSIM is being used through a third-party solution, we can't confirm that the behaviour you're seeing is representative of the iD Mobile network or whether it's being affected by the eSIM adapter.
