Question

Significant coverage drop across multiple postcodes (Three/Vodafone merger impact?)

I’ve been a happy iD Mobile customer for a while, but recently, network coverage in my regular haunts has degraded significantly—or vanished entirely.

Having previously worked for a major UK MNO, I reached out to former colleagues who suggested that as Three and Vodafone converge their networks, mast sites are being decommissioned. This reportedly might lead to "growing pains" for the next 18 months. This aligns perfectly with what I’m experiencing.

Specific Problem Areas:

  • LE65 (Ashby de la Zouch): Data is so poor that images are sending via MMS, incurring extra charges.

  • DE65 (Hilton): Total "No Service" black hole.

  • DE65 (Etwall): No coverage or zero usable data.

  • NG24 (Newark on Trent): Extremely poor coverage/no data.

  • IP18 (Southwold): No or poor coverage.

Question: Aside from the standard "restart your phone" advice, how can we collectively put pressure on iD/Three/VF to address these specific localised failures?

I’ve always recommended iD Mobile, but the current reliability is making me consider moving to an EE-based MVNO. I’d rather stay, but I need a working phone!

2 of us use ID Mobile and have been very happy with them until 3 days ago. Three have turned of 3G and both are phones are capable of 4g 5g. We have lost the usual good service in our home having to make phone calls on WhatsApp. The status says they have a small problem in our area but they are working on it that’s 3 days now. We don’t want to leave ID mobile but we need to be able to use our phones in our own home not go elsewhere to make and receive calls.

Hi @Mon53,

We're sorry to hear about the issues you've been experiencing with your coverage.

We appreciate how frustrating it can be when the service you're receiving doesn't match what you'd expect, particularly if the coverage checker is showing strong coverage in the areas where you're having problems.

As a first step, we'd recommend checking the coverage checker again to see if there are any reported issues or maintenance affecting the locations concerned: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-support/coverage

If the issue persists, please contact our Live Chat team so they can investigate further and check whether there are any network-related issues affecting your service: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

They'll be able to review your account and discuss any available options based on the outcome of their investigation.

Regards,
