Some SMS messages not arriving

Hello - I’m having trouble receiving SMS texts from a contact’s phone. The other phone can call mine OK, but I can’t receive their texts. What should I do?

I’m really sorry you are having trouble receiving SMS messages, I understand how important it is to stay connected.

For iD Mobile, please try these steps:

Restart your phone
Turn Airplane Mode ON for 30 seconds → OFF
Check Settings → Messages and make sure SMS is enabled
Blocked contact check → Make sure the sender’s number is not accidentally blocked
Ask the sender to confirm the SMS is being sent to the correct number
If possible, test receiving SMS from another number to see if the issue is contact-specific
 

 If you can receive calls but not texts from one contact, the issue may be on the sender’s network or message settings.

Hello Lamiya,

 

Thanks for the advice. Apologies, but I’m still having trouble receiving texts from the other contact. They have recently had their SIM replaced and are able to text other people besides me. I have found that I can send texts to them OK, but I can’t receive them.


For context, my phone is a Google Pixel 7A with unlimited texts and minutes. I’ve had problems receiving calls/messages on this phone in the past year from a number of people, though everything works fine the majority of the time. I would appreciate a full check of my connection.

Just double-check you haven’t blocked their number on your phone.

The other user isn’t listed as blocked in my Messages app, and I don’t have any blocked users on my associated Google account.

Have you recently ported your number over? Could be a split port.

I switched to id in mid-2024, but I’ve had issues with texts since I joined - just not frequently enough for me to feel moved to contact tech support!
