restarting the phone doesn’t help neither does airplane mode.

Hi @Ballyhu

I’m sorry you’re dealing with that I understand how frustrating it is when everything looks like it should be working (full signal, morning speeds fine), but performance drops off later in the day.

What you’re describing (fast mornings, then ~0.6 Mbps in the afternoon) is usually not a signal issue, especially if:

  • Signal bars are full
  • Restarting / airplane mode makes no difference

This pattern typically points to local network congestion — meaning the mast you’re connected to is getting heavily used at peak times, so speeds are reduced even though coverage appears strong.

📌 Why this happens

  • Mobile networks share capacity between all users on a mast
  • At busy times (often afternoons/evenings), speeds can drop significantly
  • This can affect all networks using the same infrastructure in your area
  • iD Mobile runs on the Three network, which can experience this in certain locations more than others

🔧 Things you can try (to rule out handset/network selection issues)

  • Go to Settings → Mobile Data → Network Selection
  • Turn OFF automatic
  • Manually select a different available network (if shown)
  • Toggle between 4G and 5G only (whichever is more stable in your area)
  • Test in a different nearby location (even a short distance can change mast load)

⚠️ Important reality check

If speeds consistently drop only at certain times of day, and your phone shows full signal, this is almost always network congestion rather than a fault with your device or SIM.

📞 If it continues

We can raise this with our technical team to check:

  • Local mast performance
  • Congestion trends
  • Any known network issues in your postcode area

I know it’s not much comfort in the moment, but you’re not doing anything wrong on your end this is a capacity issue on the local network rather than your phone or settings 👍
