Terrible Coverage - Want to Transfer My Number Back to My Original Provider but Keep My Contract to Full Term

Hi, I moved from O2 but didn’t realise that despite living in Central Edinburgh, how terrible your coverage would be in my basement flat.  Can’t make or receive any calls clearly without stepping outside onto the street or into the garden.  I’m planning to pick up a new contract with a better provider and want to move my number but the PAC process seems to mean my contract has ended.  Can I get a new number for my ID mobile contract whilst moving my number to another provider?

Hey there @Alan-Johnstone, we’re sorry to hear that. What’s the full postcode please?

What date did you join us on?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi there @Alan-Johnstone, no problem at all.

Is the issue with calls, texts and data here?

Is the issue at all times, or sometimes?

Thanks,

Tyler

Hi Tyler.  This issue is with coverage on calls and with data; texts I hardly use.  I cannot get calls in my flat and have either to go outside on the street or into the communal garden for people to be able to hear me (and vice versa) .  Similarly data signal is very patchy, even in Edinburgh.  I’ve used the Sim in two separate phones so it’s not the handset.

I also have a separate Sky mobile contract and no problem with them.  In my frustration, I’ve just used a PAC code to transfer my number to Sky but I would like to retain the ID mobile contract for international travel; can i get a new number just for that purpose?

Thanks for your help. :)

You wouldn’t be able to port the number out to a different provider @Alan-Johnstone  as this would end the plan and create a termination fee.

Can you please check your coverage here to see if there are any current outages in your area - https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-advice/coverage

Some materials, older buildings and structures can also affect signal strength.

Can you try switching to 4G only to see if that helps? Do you have Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE enabled?

I'm in much the same boat but I don't believe there should be a termination fee when it is ideal Mobile's promise that's NOT been kept.
They should tell all customers, New or Old, when the Service changes. In the case of this customer, I bet they didn't point out that there Would be such bad service before accepting payment
