I have been unable to make phone calls for quite a few weeks. When I try to call someone it defaults to WiFi like WhatsApp calls, and the signal is often 5G. The calls don’t even ring out

Hi @Lydwats ,

I’m really sorry to hear you’ve been unable to make calls for weeks, that must be frustrating. Since your calls are defaulting to Wi-Fi apps like WhatsApp and not connecting on the mobile network, it sounds like a SIM or network issue. Let’s try these steps:

-Check SIM status: Remove and reinsert your SIM card to ensure it’s seated correctly.
-Network settings: Go to Settings → Mobile Data → Network Selection and make sure it’s set to Automatic.
-Turn off Wi-Fi Calling temporarily: This will force the phone to use the mobile network for calls.
-Test SIM in another phone (if possible) to rule out a handset issue.

If the issue persists, we may need to replace your SIM. You can:

-Get one instantly for free at any Currys store (bring a valid ID),
-  Request one by post (takes about 2 working days via Royal Mail), or
- Activate an eSIM if your phone supports it via your iD Mobile account.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please reach out via Socials (Facebook or Instagram), Live Chat, Community, or email us at socialqueries@idmobile.co.uk so we can investigate further.
