For a month now, I have not been using mobile data due to poor signal.  I use home and work WiFi to browse the Internet. Sadly I just started a new SIM contract with ID mobile and I can't cancel until August next year. What do I do? I can’t bear this poor signal for a whole year. 😔

My phone is Samsung S24 with physical SIM card.

Hi @Oluchi

Thank you for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing poor signal since starting your new iD Mobile contract. I completely understand how frustrating this must be, especially when you're relying on Wi-Fi because your mobile data isn't usable.

As you're using a Samsung S24 with a physical SIM, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Restart your handset

  • Switch your phone off completely.
  • Leave it switched off for around 30 seconds.
  • Turn it back on and allow a few minutes for it to reconnect to the network.

2. Set your network to 4G only

5G coverage can be more limited in some areas, and 4G may provide a more stable connection.

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Connections.
  • Select Mobile Networks.
  • Tap Network Mode.
  • Select 4G/LTE only or the closest available 4G-only option.

Then restart your phone and test your calls and mobile data again.

3. Refresh your network connection

  • Turn Airplane Mode on for around 30 seconds.
  • Turn it off and wait a few minutes for your phone to reconnect.

4. Check for software updates

  • Go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install and make sure your Samsung is running the latest available software.

5. Reinsert the SIM

  • Switch your phone off.
  • Remove the physical SIM.
  • Wait around 30 seconds before reinserting it.
  • Switch the phone back on and test the service.

6. Reset network settings

If the issue continues, you can reset your network settings by going to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Please note that this will remove saved Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth connections, so you'll need to reconnect to them afterwards.

7. Test the SIM in another compatible unlocked handset

If possible, insert your iD Mobile SIM into another phone and test the service. This can help establish whether the issue is related to the SIM/network or your Samsung handset.

If you've completed the above and you're still experiencing poor signal, we'd recommend contacting our via Live Chat to discuss the options available on your account and whether there are any alternative plans or solutions they can offer.

We appreciate how frustrating this situation is, and we hope the troubleshooting above helps improve your service.
