When using WiFi calling (bad mobile signal in our area) I find frequent one way dropouts

When using Wireless Calling I find that there is frequent change from duplex to simplex conversation! I can hear the other party but they suddenly cannot hear me. I also find that sometimes there is no dial tone available when I attempt to call a known number - either mobile or fixed. I have an iPhone 11 and the ISP is TalkTalk.Today the conversation changed to one way four times in a single conversation and each time my contact had to initiate the call afresh.

HELP!

Hi @JFW4ID

Thank you for getting in touch with us, and I’m really sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing with WiFi Calling. I can appreciate how frustrating it must be, especially when calls drop to one-way audio or fail to connect properly.

Based on what you’ve described, this may be related to either the WiFi connection stability or the WiFi Calling feature on the device/network session.

To help improve this, please try the following:

To help improve this, please try the following:

Restart your iPhone
Toggle WiFi Calling off and back on in your device settings
Ensure your iPhone 11 is running the latest iOS version

Additionally, you may want to try the following steps:
Reinsert your SIM or try it in another phone. This will help determine whether the issue is with the handset or the SIM card.

For iPhone (iOS) – Reset Network Settings:
Go to Settings → General.
Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings.
Confirm the reset when prompted.
Once complete, return to the home screen and restart your iPhone.

Thank you,

Well - we had tried all of those suggestions, apart from trying the SIM card in a scond phone - which we have has to postpone as my wife’s phone has been very busy with icoming calls  - after a minor tRaf fic accident! but this morning Apple introduced yet another OS upgrade! I have just upgraded all of our Apple devices to the new iOS version 26.4 and have yet to see if the problem still persists. My wife and I both have iPhone 11 and appear to be nominally identical. But I have yet to encounter the problem my wife has. She says that during a lengthy call, after a few minutes she starts to get an intrusive noise which she describes as a pinging which repeats every minute or two - as well as the dropped calls ending up as one way traffic.

i have heard that I can get a replacement SIM card from ID. If so can we keep the same number?
