Why is reception so bad in cities where it should be best. EG. central London and Oxford city centre I get no more than 2 bars (Android) my wife & daughter report same on their iPhones.

We were with EE for years previously, so hoping this may be a settings problem on our phones.

Hi @RGL ,

I am so sorry to hear that. we know how frustrating that can be, especially in busy areas like central London and Oxford. iD Mobile runs on the Three network, which generally offers strong coverage, but signal can vary due to things like building density, network congestion, or even phone settings.
It’s worth checking:

-That 4G/5G is enabled in your phone settings
-Your network settings are up to date
-You’ve done a manual network reset (this can often help)

Let us know

Reception is great outside those areas, so 4/5G obviously enabled.
I dont know what you mean by the other two points - can you be more specific please and I will ask my daughter to try.
Thanks

@RGL  Hello I have some of the same issue that you have but that's on my Samsung devices. But when I put my sim card into my Nothing Phone 2 I have far better reception it the same areas where I had little to none using my Samsung phone. Sometimes it can be down to the radio communication chips used in the device, I travel all around London and while Iay get slow speed data or no signal in some location on average it's OK.

Likewise when I'm in Oxford from the town centre right around the old BMW site, and Blackbirdleys it can be hit or miss due to the football stadium blocking the signal. The radio signals travel over the air and object like buildings, trees, valleys etc can play a big part into the one's reception.

All I'm saying in the same location with the same sim card in different phones one device out performs the other in my case.

I'm sure you've checked IDMobile network status checker to see in said location if there are any ongoing works or outages.. Hopefully with Vodafone on board with Three UK now we all sooner or later will have a improved network.

Joe 🙂

@RGL  I fully understand your frustration and while no network can guarantee total coverage or full services it totally frustrating. I personally have sim cards on all the major networks due to my work background. I'd say monitor the main areas you need you phone and where possible put in the full postal code for said area/ areas and see if theres any working or faults reported. There even time where two or more individuals are on the same network and one individual has problems with the network and others don't. This mainly happens with an outage or maintenance work.

Check coverage and network status when you able to.

Joe 🙂
