Wi Fi Calling using a Pixel 9a phone

I have a Pixel 9a phone and use ID sim card.  I have been having terrible problems with calls dropping in the middle of conversations.  My ID signal in the house is not good.  Im sitting right by the modem in the house when making calls.  My computer and TV are working fine on wifi.  So I dont know why it keeps trying to switch back to ID for the call?  I have an honest Sim but have turned that off for now (its DATA only so should not interfere with making calls I dont think??)

The last thing I am trying is to switch on Airplane mode and then choose wifi manually.  I have not fully tested this.   But is this really necessary?  Is it that ID do not want me to use WiFi calling and somehow prevent me to permanently chose it for making calls?

Hi @Marisa020240

Kindly be advised that the following troubleshooting steps may help resolve your issue with WiFi Calling.

Please try the steps below:

1. Restart and reset connections (quick fix)

Turn Airplane Mode ON
Turn Wi-Fi back ON manually
Wait 10 seconds
Restart your phone

Once restarted, try making a WiFi call again.

This helps force the device to re-register WiFi Calling (VoWiFi) with iD Mobile.

Important note:
WiFi Calling usually only activates when either:

Mobile signal is weak, or
Airplane Mode is ON with Wi-Fi enabled

To test:

Turn Airplane Mode ON
Turn Wi-Fi ON
Attempt a call over Wi-Fi

If the call fails immediately, this may indicate a provisioning issue rather than a device or Wi-Fi issue.

2. Reset network settings (recommended for Pixel devices)
This resolves most carrier-related conflicts:

Go to:
Settings → System → Reset options → Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth

Then:

Reconnect to Wi-Fi
Restart your phone
Re-enable WiFi Calling

Please let us know if the issue continues after completing these steps.
