Will it work now?

I guess it surely must be coming soon?

Hi @Kkqd1337

That is correct, we do not currently support this feature. However, it is something we are looking to implement in the future.

We will provide updates to all our customers once the feature becomes available.

HI @Kkqd1337,

Yes it is now working, but only in a limited rollout at the moment.

Here’s the clear situation based on the latest iOS 26.5 release:

What’s changed

  • Apple has now officially added RCS support with end-to-end encryption in iOS 26.5 for iPhone users
  • This means iPhone-to-Android messaging over RCS is finally available in a more secure form (like WhatsApp-style encryption)
  • The feature is enabled in iOS, but it depends on carrier support on both sides

The important bit for iD Mobile customers

  • RCS is not switched on by all UK networks yet, including many MVNOs like iD Mobile
  • Even if your phone is on iOS 26.5, it will not work until iD Mobile enables it on their network settings
  • Apple has confirmed it’s being rolled out gradually with supported carriers only

So to answer your question directly

  • Yes, RCS on iPhone is real and now live in iOS 26.5
  • No, it may not work for iD Mobile users yet
  • And yes, it is expected to roll out more widely, but there is no confirmed date from iD Mobile yet

Bottom line

It must be coming, but it’s not something Apple alone can turn on your network has to enable it first.

If you want, I can check what iD Mobile’s current official position is on RCS rollout specifically.

So….. bottom line is; IDmobile doesn’t support it yet?

Hi @NAP,

Sorry to hear you're having issues with messaging.

If both RCS and SMS/MMS have stopped working, we'd recommend trying the following:

  • Restart your phone.
  • Turn Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then back off.
  • Make sure your iD Mobile SIM is set as the default SIM for messages (if using Dual SIM).
  • Check that Mobile Data is enabled, as MMS and RCS require a data connection.
  • Turn RCS off, restart the phone, then turn RCS back on.
  • Reset your network settings.

If you're using Android:

  • Open Messages
  • Tap your profile picture
  • Select Messages Settings
  • Tap RCS Chats
  • Toggle RCS off, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on

If you're using an iPhone:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Messages
  • Ensure MMS Messaging is enabled
  • If available, toggle RCS Messaging off and back on

Please also note that MMS messages (picture messages) are chargeable and are not included within standard text allowances.

If the issue continues, could you let us know:

  • What handset you're using?
  • Whether you can receive messages from Android users or if all SMS messages are affected?

We'll be happy to help further.

Regards,

Just switched to iPhone and I'm frustrated that ID Mobile does not offer this. From my own research I understand the following networks support RCS on iOS:

  • Three
  • BT
  • EE
  • giffgaff
  • O2
  • Tesco Mobile

Perhaps we can switch to one of these networks as ID Mobile have been unable to offer a timeline of when they expect RCS to be enabled.

Hi @Robula

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

We understand how important RCS messaging is, especially if you've recently switched to an iPhone.

At the moment, RCS on iPhone is not yet supported on iD Mobile, and we appreciate that this is disappointing. While some other networks have introduced this feature, we don't currently have a confirmed timeframe for when it will be available on our network.

We value your feedback, and we'll make sure your comments are shared with the relevant team, as customer demand helps us prioritise future developments. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding.

Thank you,
