I receive roughly 3 spam/scam calls daily

Is there something I can opt in/out of so my number isn't publicly available?

    Hi @Rystok,

I'm sorry to hear that you're receiving unwanted calls.

Unfortunately, this isn't something that iD Mobile can directly prevent or resolve. If your number has already been shared or obtained by third parties, there isn't an opt-in or opt-out setting that will stop it from being available to those callers.

    In the meantime, we'd recommend:

    • Blocking any unwanted numbers on your handset.
    • Reporting nuisance or spam calls where possible.
    • Avoiding answering or engaging with suspicious callers.

If the volume of calls becomes too difficult to manage, you could consider changing your mobile number. Please note that a number change currently costs £25.00.

Hopefully blocking the unwanted numbers will help reduce the disruption without the need to change your number.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

Thanks Gemma. Unfortunately just blocking the numbers doesn't seem to help, what with digital SIMs etc these days they just call back from a different number. I block every single one and it hasn't reduced the number of calls.

I did some googling and registered with TPS service, hopefully this helps.

Disappointing to hear it's £25 to change numbers when I know o2 do it for free in seconds at the click of a button!

    Appreciate your time,

    Ryan

    Hi @Rystok

Thank you for your reply, and I completely understand your frustration.

You're right that blocking nuisance callers is often only a temporary solution, as they can use different numbers, including VoIP and digital numbers, to continue making contact. It's good to hear that you've registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), as this can help reduce unwanted sales and marketing calls over time.

I appreciate your feedback regarding the charge for changing a mobile number. I understand it's disappointing, particularly when you've had different experiences with other providers. While our charges and processes may differ from those of other networks, I'll make sure your comments are passed on as feedback.

Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout. If there's anything else we can help with, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

    Thank you,
