Hi @WB2025,

I’m really sorry to hear this has happened, that’s understandably worrying.

From what you’ve described, it sounds like someone may be impersonating you rather than accessing your account directly. Unfortunately, this type of scam can happen on messaging apps or social platforms.

The best steps you can take are:

  • Let your contacts know as soon as possible that this isn’t you, so they don’t respond or send any money
  • Ask your friend (and anyone else who received the message) to block and report the account that contacted them
  • If you recognise the platform (e.g. WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.), you can also report the fake profile directly there

It’s also worth double-checking your own accounts:

  • Make sure your passwords are secure and unique
  • Enable two-factor authentication where possible for extra protection

If you notice anything unusual on your iD Mobile account itself, just let us know and we’ll be happy to take a closer look.

Hope this helps, and shout if you need anything further.

Regards,
