I’ve been called repeatedly by 01217900432 explaining I needed to have a new sim card delivered. They then went on to send me a verification code to my email address and asked me to let them know what the code was. However in the email it specifically states that “ Remember, DO NOT share this code, and we'll never request this number from you over the phone.”

So I told them that I wouldn’t be sharing the code and hung up. They then called back and told me that if I didn’t my sim card would be blocked!

I hung up again but thought it important to let others know to be vigilant.

Hi @Jfran,

Thank you for reporting this, and we're really sorry you’ve had this experience.

You were absolutely right to be cautious and to not share the verification code. As stated in our emails, iD Mobile will never ask you to provide security codes over the phone, and any request like this should always be treated as suspicious.

Based on what you’ve described, this does appear to be a scam attempt. We would strongly recommend that you:

  • Block the number (01217900432)
  • Report it as spam/scam on your device
  • Do not engage with any further calls or messages from them

For clarity, iD Mobile will also only ever make outbound calls if a customer has specifically requested contact, so unexpected calls like this should always be treated with caution.

If you ever receive anything like this again and are unsure, please contact us directly via Live Chat so we can confirm whether it’s genuine: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

Thanks again for taking the right steps and helping keep others informed.

Regards,
