Victim of PAC Fraud twice now in 3 months!!

For the second time in 3 months my PAC code has been stolen. I contacted ID Mobile as soon as I got the text message with my PAC code and they assured me it would not be taken again as i’d set up a password the last time it happened. I just received another text message to say that my account has now closed and I have been billed £276. So my PAC code has been stolen again despite assurances it would not be possible the second time.

I am utterly furious. I have logged a complaint and now I just have to wait until my number can be ported back to me. Lat time it took 2 weeks.

I will be ending my ID Mobile contract as soon as it is due up next year, this is not good enough.

Hello @LOUH8582

Thank you for getting in touch.

We are very sorry to hear this has happened.

Have the team advised that the steps have now been put in to place to get this matter resolved?

If a complaint has been raised, the team will be in touch to discuss this matter further.

Thanks,

Natalie

Hi

I have to wait 48 hours while they attempt to get my number back. I am now unable to make any calls or texts. I have locked all of my bank accounts and added extra security to my emails, as the hacker attempted to access my emails on the last occasion. It is highly inconvenient and I am so annoyed this has happened again so quickly after last time. I have zero faith in ID mobile any longer. They are not protecting my information.

Last time this took 2 weeks, not 48 hours, so we shall see how long this takes.

Could you please clarify how the PAC was obtained? Was the individual responsible accessing your ID Mobile account, or was the PAC obtained via SMS or directly through Customer Support?

I have no idea. ID Mobile have not let me know any details of how this happened again. I have requested an investigation into why this has now happened twice and have to wait 48 hours for someone to contact me. The first time they said the individual contacted them by phone and requested the PAC code. Which is why I set up a password with them last time to prevent this happening again. Surely since my PAC code was stolen previously, they should not have issued it again without calling me and checking I had requested it? Just like the last time, the first I was notified a PAC code had been requested was when I got a text message confirming my PAC code.

iD Mobile doesn’t have any telephone support. I’m not sticking up for them, but it’s important that you know how they obtained both PACs; otherwise, it’s going to be difficult stopping them from doing it again and again.

I have asked for a full investigation and I want to know how it is happening. I have just gotten a crime number from Action Fraud and will be speaking to the ombudsman
