Can I not get an iD mobile plan until I have lived in the UK for 3+ years?

I have recently moved to the UK from another country and I wanted to get an iD Mobile sim-only plan because my friend recommended it to me, but ordering a sim card online requires a pre-existing UK phone number “for delivery updates” and 3+ years of UK address history for a credit check.

Obviously I don’t have a UK phone number yet, that’s why I’m trying to get a UK phone plan. I also don’t have 3 years of UK address history, I just moved here last week.

Are iD mobile plans only available for people who have already been living in the UK for 3+ years, or is there some way around this?

Thank you for sharing. I’m sorry for the difficulty you’ve had trying to order your SIM.

We carry out identity and credit checks when you take out a contract. These checks confirm who you are, verify your UK address and make sure the plan is affordable for you. This is why the online order form asks for a UK phone number for delivery updates and for your UK address history.

As you have only just moved here, I understand you may not yet have a UK phone number or enough address history to pass these checks, and I’m sorry this has made it difficult to order.
