I am changing providers and I am keeping my old number

I have just switch to ID, but i want to keep my old phone number. i’ve done the pac but the earliest day was the 3rd Nov (it’s the 31st). should i use my old sim with my number (has no data) or can i use my new sim was the new number that I dont want until I get my old numbet
