Question

is my eSim working

I switched to ID Mobile yesterday. I selected to have an eSIM and I provided a PAC so that my existing mobile number can be transferred and used. I received an email “Your eSIM is ready”. The email had a QR code and below a button “Download eSIM”, I selected this button. There followed a couple of screens indicating some processing was happening. On completion I received a number of sms texts welcoming me which gave me the impression that all that needed to be done had been completed. I tried registering my ID MOBILE account however I kept receiving data unrecognised messages. Eventually I noticed that I had received a text stating what my new telephone number was which I then used rather than the my previous mobile number to register with ID Mobile. On my mobile settings in GENERAL-ABOUT-ESIM it is still showing my previous network provider. So I am unclear as to whether to switch to ID Mobile and the eSIM has been successfully completed. Please can you advise how I can check.

    Hi @Bemrose,

It sounds like your old provider's eSIM may still be active on your device.

We'd recommend removing or deleting the old provider's SIM/eSIM from your phone and then performing a network settings reset. Once that's done, restart your device and check whether the iD Mobile eSIM becomes active.

After the reset, you can also check under your eSIM settings to see if iD Mobile is shown as the active network.

If your PAC transfer was only submitted yesterday, please keep in mind that the number transfer may still be in progress. In the meantime, your iD Mobile service will use the temporary number assigned to you.

Once you've completed the network reset, please try again and let us know how you get on.

    Hi @Bemrose,

We are so sorry to hear of the issues that you are currently facing. Please try the steps below, depending on the type of phone you have:

    For Android:

    1. Open Settings
    2. Tap General Management
    3. Tap Reset
    4. Select Reset network settings

    For iPhone:

    • Go to Settings
    • Tap Phone
    • Tap My Number
    • Delete the old number
    • Enter the new/current number
    • Tap Save

Then follow these steps to refresh iMessage:

    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap Messages
    3. Turn iMessage OFF
    4. Go to Settings > General
    5. Tap Reset
    6. Choose Reset Network Settings
    7. Once your iPhone restarts, go back to Settings
    8. Tap Messages
    9. Turn iMessage ON again

Your iPhone should now recognise the SIM and verify your number to get it working again.
