No Service

Received the phone two days ago. Trying to switch my number over, but need to enter a code for the iD Mobile sim. However, I have no service and it doesn’t recognise that there is a sim in the phone. Phone is stating ‘no service, no sim’ which means I cannot proceed to switch over. Please advise as I cannot speak to anyone regarding this.
