not kept old phone number

I requested PAC code from old provider and gave it to id mobile when purchasing new plan but it has still allocated me a new number when I have received my SIM card and activated it. I absolutely do not want to lose my old number. I will have to completely cancel if this can't be sorted, this new number is useless to me
