Question

PAC Switched last month, old number still not working

Did a PAC switch but my old number is still inactive. I have tried everything suggested by live chat and still nothing:

Reset wifi/mobile data settings
Restart phone
Change phone number on sim on phone
Insert sim into iphone to change sim number on  there then reinsert in my phone

None of this has made my old number work again.

Also i was told live chat would have log of previous chats but they never did.

What now???

    Hi @disgruntledidmobileguy,

Thank you for getting in touch. I’m really sorry that your number still isn’t working following your PAC transfer, especially after you’ve already tried the troubleshooting steps provided by our Live Chat team. I also apologise for the frustration caused by the previous chat history not being available when you contacted them again.

As you’ve already reset your network settings and tested your SIM in another phone, please try the following additional checks to see whether your handset is displaying the correct number.

    For iPhone:

    1. Go to Settings > Phone > My Number.
    2. Check whether your correct iD Mobile number is displayed.
    3. If it’s incorrect, update it to the number you wish to keep. Please note that the change may not save or update immediately.
    4. If the number still doesn’t change, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    5. Enter your passcode if prompted and confirm the reset.

Please be aware that resetting network settings will remove saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords, along with other network-related settings.

    For Android:

To check the number associated with your SIM:

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Select About Phone or About Device.
    3. Tap Status and then My Phone Number. Depending on your device, this may appear under SIM Status or SIM Card Status.

If the number is incorrect in your messaging settings:

    1. Open the Messages app.
    2. Tap More (⋮) > Settings > Advanced.
    3. If a Phone Number option is available, enter your correct number and save the changes.

If the number remains incorrect, remove the SIM, restart your phone, reinsert the SIM and check again. If possible, test it in another compatible handset and send a test SMS to see whether the correct number or a temporary number is displayed.

If the issue persists after these checks, you may need a replacement SIM card. You can visit your nearest Currys store during its opening hours to obtain one or contact our Live Chat team to request a replacement SIM by post, which typically arrives within 2–3 working days.

You can reach our Live Chat team here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused. We understand how important it is to regain access to your number and appreciate your patience while working through the available options.
