Primary phone number

Just ported my old number to new id mobile account.  I think the transfer has worked (though still having issues with messaging app) but my iPhone still shows the temporary number as my primary number. I can’t overwrite the number myself. How do I get it to change?

Hi, ​@Helensq 

Thank you for reaching out, please restart your device to have your number working correctly after getting a text from us to say it has completed. Or use the following steps:

Go to Settings.
Tap Phone.
Tap My Number.
Use the delete button to remove the old number.
Use the keypad to enter the new number.
Tap Save.
1. Go to Settings
2. Messages
3. Turn off iMessage.
4. Go to General
5. Reset
6. Reset Network Settings.
7. Once the iPhone is open.
8. Go to Settings
9. Messages Turn ON iMessage.
10.This will recognize the new sim and have it verified.

You have more than one SIM/eSIM installed on your device. Remove or delete any unwanted or unused SIMs/eSIMs.

I tried this and initially it didn’t work.  But a couple of days later it suddenly sorted itself.  Patience is a virtue…
