switch hasn’t worked properly don’t know what to do with Settings

Best answer by JoeKing

@samjammer71  Hello when you say switch I take it you meant port to bring a phone number to a new network? If so part of the porting sometime limited service are I use, be it calls, text etc.

When was your port scheduled for?

If the date has passed turn your phone off for about 2 minutes and back on again this sometimes refreshes the network settings.

Also just have a read of this information below which I found on here.

Port Number Information

Porting Process

UK mobile number transfers do not happen immediately. The switch can occur sometime between 8am - 10pm on the scheduled date. There might be several hours between the old provider's SIM not working and the kept number working with the new SIM.

Cancelling a Port Request

If you have requested to move your number from a different network to iD Mobile, you can contact iD Mobile to cancel the request if it's not too late. However, if you are porting out of iD Mobile, you need to contact the new network for assistance.

Hi @samjammer71,

Welcome to the Community!

As advised, please restart the handset and reset your network settings.

Secondly please ensure that the number is displayed correctly in your call/phone and message settings.

Hello

it still lists the id mobile number I can’t seem to remove it. I have set my old kept number as the main one now and it seems to have worked. Not sure why the id number has to be there is I’ve been transferred over correctly. Thank you for help

Hi @samjammer71,

Is this now resolved?

It’s worth resetting your network settings and restarting the handset if you have issues such as these.

Hi @lou10u ,

I completely understand how frustrating it can be when a port hasn’t gone through as expected.

To check your network settings on your phone after switching your number:

-Make sure your iD SIM is in your phone.

-Go to Settings → Mobile/Cellular Network → Network Operators and ensure it’s set to automatic.

-Check that Mobile Data and Roaming (if needed) are switched on.

-Restart your phone after updating these settings.

Sometimes, if your port was scheduled for a weekend or holiday, it can take a bit longer to complete — up to a couple of working days.

Hi @Sidnei,

I am so sorry to hear of the issues that you are having with your services. Kindly note that this is quite a common issue that occurs after doing a number transfer.

Please try the steps below, depending on the type of phone you have:

For Android:

  • Open Settings
  • Tap General Management
  • Tap Reset
  • Select Reset network settings

For iPhone:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Phone
  • Tap My Number
  • Delete the old number
  • Enter the new number
  • Tap Save

Then follow these steps to refresh iMessage:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Messages
  • Turn iMessage OFF
  • Go to Settings > General
  • Tap Reset
  • Choose Reset Network Settings
  • Once your iPhone restarts, go back to Settings
  • Tap Messages
  • Turn iMessage ON again

Your iPhone should now recognise the new SIM and verify your number.
