If you’ve just purchased an iD Mobile SIM but your phone is locked to another network, follow this guide to get back on track:

Please note: All phones sold by iD Mobile are unlocked.

How do I check my phone is locked?

The easiest way to check if your phone is locked is to insert a SIM card from a different network provider. If you can make calls and send texts, your phone is unlocked. If you see an error message like "SIM Not Supported" or "SIM Not Valid," it's locked to your previous network. You can also check your phone's settings.

iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Tap General, then tap About.

  3. Scroll down to Network Provider Lock.

  4. If you see "No SIM restrictions," your iPhone is unlocked. If it says "SIM locked" or shows a network name, it's locked.

Android:

The steps can vary slightly depending on your phone's manufacturer (e.g. Samsung, Google etc).

  1. Go to Settings.

  2. Tap Network & Internet (or Connections).

  3. Tap SIMs (or Mobile Network).

  4. Look for an option like Network Lock or Carrier Lock Status.

  5. The screen should clearly state if your device is locked or unlocked.

What is a NUC?

A NUC (network unlocking code), sometimes known as a PUK or personal unlocking code (PUC), is an eight digit number used to unlock your phone. You’ll need one if your phone is locked by your current network and you want to use a SIM from iD Mobile.

How do I get a NUC?

You’ll need to contact the network provider your phone is locked too to obtain a NUC. Here are guides from EE, O2 and Vodafone.
