Question

Add esim to share account with watch

When I was on EE I use to pay £5 per month to allow me to have full utilisation of my account i.e. minutes, data and text on my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

I have recently upgraded  to Galaxy Watch 2 Ultra which is LTE compliant and rather than use Bluetooth to make phones (which necessitates have the phone within 10m) I would like to add esim to to the watch allowing me to use my minutes, text and and data independent of having the phone nearby.

Is this achievable?

    Hi @Robert K McKenzie,

    Thanks for your post.

Unfortunately, iD Mobile SIM cards and eSIMs aren't supported in smart watches, including LTE-enabled models such as the Galaxy Watch Ultra.

This means it's not possible to add your iD Mobile eSIM to the watch and use your minutes, texts and data independently of your phone in the same way that some other networks offer through smartwatch plans. I'm sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause.

As things stand, your Galaxy Watch would need to be connected to your phone via Bluetooth (or Wi-Fi where available) to access calls, messages and data through your mobile service.

For customers looking to use a smartwatch primarily for fitness tracking, notifications and general smart features, we would typically recommend the GPS/Bluetooth functionality rather than the cellular capability.

If support for cellular smartwatches becomes available in the future, any updates will be communicated on our website and Community.

    I hope this clarifies things.

    Regards,

Are there any plans to do this in future? It's something I'd love to have available for my watch too!

    Hi @Azure_embers,

    Thanks for your post.

This is definitely something that we're aware customers would like to see, particularly for those with LTE-enabled smartwatches.

While we don't have any announcements to share at the moment, it is something that's being looked into. Unfortunately, we're unable to provide a timescale or confirm whether support will be introduced in the future.

Should anything change, we'll make sure to communicate it through our website and Community.

Thanks for your interest, and we'll be sure to pass your feedback on.

    Regards,
