Hi, I’m out of contract with ID and want a different plan but without changing my phone number. Is it possible to do this by keeping existing SIM and speaking with someone in Customer Services for them to activate the new service? Or do I need a new SIM and then get the number ported over? The Chatbot doesn’t like this Q 😁

Thank you for getting in touch with us. Please note that in order to keep your current number with us, you will need to upgrade your existing contract.
You can keep your existing SIM, so there is no need for a new one.
If you choose to start a completely new contract, unfortunately, you will not be able to keep your current number, as the system does not allow an internal number change.
The only way to retain your number with iD Mobile is to upgrade your old contract, which will convert it to a new contract while keeping your existing number.

Type ‘talk to a person’ when you open the dialogue box to bypass the chatbot.
Please be patient as the agents handle a few conversations at any one time so there will be a delay in connecting with an available agent and also any replies to your query.
The other option is to perform a triangle port:-
Transfer your number, via PAC code, to another provider e.g. SMARTY (as they also use the 3 network and have value monthly PAYG SIM packages) and then transfer back, using a PAC code, to iD Mobile on the upgrade deal you wish to have.
How to Perform a Triangle Port to Keep Your Number
- Get a PAC Code:Request a PAC code from iD Mobile for the number you wish to keep.
- Port to Another Network:Purchase a temporary PAYG SIM from a different mobile provider (e.g., SMARTY, as they also use the 3 network and have good value PAYG SIM deals).
- Transfer Your Number:Give your PAC code to the new PAYG provider to transfer your number from iD Mobile to their network.
- Wait for Completion:Allow at least 24 hours for the number to fully transfer to the new network.
- Request a New PAC:Once the number is on the PAYG SIM, request a new PAC code from that temporary provider.
- Port Back to iD:Use the new PAC code to port your number to the new iD Mobile contract you want.
It’s a bit of a ball-acher but unfortunately networks do not give you many options but to do it this way.
You can also email socialqueries@idmobile.co.uk. but this will probably take longer than a triangle port.
