Question

Cost of early termination

I have a contract for phone + SIM which runs for another 9 months. I am having various problems with the phone, and I am tempted to terminate my contract and get a new phone, very possibly with a new provider.

Would the early termination fee be the monthly fee multiplied by the remaining months? Will it be less, since I won't be using the data etc? Will I be hit by additional charges for ending early?

Or is there a better way round this entirely? Can I replace my phone while staying on a similar ID package?

TIA!

Yes!

If your phone is a problem, head to Argos and buy a SIM-free phone. You can find a decent phone for under £130.

Thanks - good to know that they don't add additional charges for terminating early.

Hi @FionaMcG  what handset is it please? Most handsets are covered by a 24 month manufacturer warranty (Apple is 12 months). If there is no physical damage to the phone (such as a crack or liquid damage) then we will be able to assist you with getting it checked.

Please take your phone into any Currys store. We will then be able to assess your phone, and if we can't fix it there and then, we can send it off to be repaired at our Repairs Centre.
We would advise that you back up your phone and keep hold of any SIM and/or memory cards you may be using in the phone.

When we repair your phone, it should take no longer than 14 days. However, if we need to send your phone to the manufacturer directly, this can take up to 28 days. Additionally, subject to availability, we may have a loan phone we could lend you. This way you would not be without a phone, whilst you wait for yours to be repaired.

I hope this helps.

Thanks very much. I had assumed it was a 12 month warranty! The phone isn't damaged but it has a persistent echo and delay on calls. I will get it checked out in Currys.
