Forced to upgrade snd no option to move to sim only at end of contract

Waited till the end of contract, and now being told I cannot move to a SIM only deal, but must take a new phone upgrade.

Only option I have is to move to another mobile operator.

Went on live chat and they confirmed that only option is to upgrade phone at inflated prices, and supposedly I could have moved to a SIM only 21 days before contract end date.

This seems ridiculous as I now must leave to get a SIM only deal, and I'd lose a customer !!!

Hi @Tigsay1

I’m sorry to hear that you were unable to upgrade to the SIM-only deal you wanted and felt the need to leave in order to get a SIM-only plan elsewhere.

Could you please confirm the date your contract is expiring so I can verify this for you?

I am in same situation. No sim only options given. I will also be leaving unless I can switch to a sim only contract. A crazy business strategy given in a year or two I will want a new phone.

Hi @Tigsay1 and @Wolf99

Thank you for your message.

I apologise if it feels like you are being forced to upgrade, as that is not the case. The upgrade process is designed to give you options based on your contract timeline.

You become eligible to upgrade to a phone deal approximately two months before your contract ends. If you prefer to move to a SIM-only plan, this is available during the final 21 days of your contract.

I apologise again if this caused any confusion, but these are simply the two upgrade options available to customers depending on their contract stage.

I held on and eventually the SIM only options gradually started to be offered, about a month or two later after the contract finished
