Ordered a new sim instead of switch plan

I have a 24 month contract which ends today. I looked on my account two days ago to see options for sim only but I could only see the option to upgrade. I asked someone who has recently switched to sim only after an ID contract ended and he said he just added the plan to the ID cart through uswitch and checked out on the ID website and it switched automatically. But now ID is sending me a new sim and I don’t know if I can use a PAC code within a network. There is also now the option to switch to sim only when I log in, so I'm thinking I've made a mistake. If I can use a PAC I will but I'm thinking I'll have to cancel this order at this point and then switch the normal way.

I wouldn't have done any of this but I had no indication that sim only options would appear only on the day the contract ended, I thought if I waited this long to change it then I'd get charged an extra month at full price.

What should I do here? What’s the process of cancelling a sim only order? Will I be charged for an extra month at full price if I don’t switch by tomorrow?

Edit: I should add the SIM only plan I have ordered is only a 1 month contract. 20gb for £6 a month

Hi @Rabid6357

I’m really sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing with your order. I would recommend getting in touch with our customer service team via Live Chat (https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat) as they can check whether the order has been processed as an upgrade.

If it turns out to be a new plan rather than an upgrade, you will then need to contact the point of sale to arrange the return, and after that our sales team on 0800 049 0250 will be able to help you complete the upgrade correctly.

Hi @Rabid6357 ,

You don’t need a PAC to move from an iD contract to an iD SIM-only plan,  PACs are only for switching networks. SIM-only options usually appear on/after your contract end date, so you didn’t do anything wrong.

Since you ordered a 1-month SIM-only

Thanks, I just wonder why they have sent me a new sim with a new phone number then. How would I go about solving that? I only want my current sim/number but with the new plan

Maybe you did not to an upgrade which would of kept you on the same number. This sound more like a new plan as a new line hence a new number.

Some additional detail for anyone coming across this in future.

The day your contract ends the option will appear to change to sim only when you're logged into the iD mobile website/app, it doesn’t appear before this date.

If you checkout on the website rather than ‘upgrading’ (which includes switching to a cheaper sim only plan) then it will send you a new SIM, iD does not support in-network number porting (PAC) so your only options here are to switch to another (non-iD) network and back to your new iD sim, or cancel the order and upgrade your existing plan.

I did the triangle switch to another network and back to iD because I liked the price of my new plan better and thought it was worth the trouble
