Transferring number without upgrading

I have an Honor Magic 6 contract with ID that runs out in less than 30 days.

Carphone warehouse had a brilliant offer on the Magic 8 so I have started a new contract with ID as I was not eligible for an upgrade.

I have received the new phone and now want pay off the old contract, and to transfer my number.

The support help is misleading, some say it is not possible, some say you can triangulate the number by getting a PAC, moving the number to another SIM that isn't ID, and then moving it to the new phone.

Please can somebody confirm if this method will work for me?

I have had this number for over 15 years and can't comprehend how I cannot move it from ID to ID... But I could have if I upgraded with them...

Hi @Macbecks

I’m really sorry to hear about the trouble you’re facing. Unfortunately, our system doesn’t allow us to transfer numbers internally between iD Mobile accounts. However, you can transfer your number to or from another network. The only way to keep your existing number with us is by upgrading your current contract, this will move you onto a new plan while keeping your number the same.

You are still able to get in touch with point of sale to return the new plan, and then get in touch with one of our sales agents either via live chat or call them on 0800 049 0250 to see what offers are open to you.

So if I move my number to a different provider

And then move it back over to ID this will work?

Hi @Macbecks

Yes, this is possible, however it can come with risks, so we usually recommend returning that plan and then upgrading.
