is the process detailed below correct - I have been told through iD chat and also on iC community if I go though carphone warehouse I will lose my current number. I would appreciate feedback on the carphone warehouse process through which I would if correct keep my number and seamlessly move onto the new contract

told How to Upgrade Your iD Mobile Plan

  • Check Eligibility: Visit the Carphone
Warehouse Upgrade Checker or log into your iD Mobile account to confirm you are at the end of your contract term.
  • Verify Status: Ensure the system tags your basket as an "UPGRADE" rather than a brand-new line, which prevents number retention issues.
  • Select Your Deal: Choose from available SIM-only or handset upgrade contracts.
  • Account Syncing: Once processed, your iD Mobile app will update automatically with your new allowances without requiring you to cancel your old plan manually.

Hi @Phanslope,

If you take out a new plan through a third-party retailer such as Carphone Warehouse, this would typically be treated as a new iD Mobile connection, which means it would come with a new mobile number.

Unfortunately, iD Mobile doesn't support internal number transfers between iD Mobile accounts. This means we can't move your existing iD Mobile number onto a new iD Mobile plan taken out through a third-party retailer should you decide to place your order with Carphone Warehouse.

The usual ways to keep your existing iD Mobile number are:

  • Upgrading directly on your current iD Mobile plan.
  • Transferring your number to another network and then back again if required.

If you're looking at upgrade deals and have found a better offer elsewhere, we'd recommend contacting our Sales Team to discuss the options available on your existing account and see whether there's a suitable upgrade available that allows you to keep your number.

You can contact them via Live Chat here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat

Thanks,

Anneline
