Sorting sons phone. The phone itself is paid for now so I have selected a sim only deal.

Will iDmobile stop taking the old amount automatically?

Hi @Carolyn Ashley

Thank you for getting in touch that’s a really good question.

If you’ve upgraded correctly to a SIM-only plan with iD Mobile, then:

👉 Yes your old contract charge will stop automatically.

📱 How it works

  • When you upgrade, your new SIM-only plan replaces your old contract
  • You won’t continue paying the old (higher) amount
  • Your billing will switch to the new SIM-only monthly cost going forward

⚠️ One thing to be aware of

  • You may still receive a final bill from your old plan
  • This can include:
  • Any remaining charges up to the switch date
  • A pro-rata amount (part-month charge if billing overlaps)

✔️ What you should see

  • From your next billing cycle → only the SIM-only price
  • No ongoing charges from the old handset contract

🚨 Important (just to double-check)

This only applies if it was processed as an upgrade through your iD account/app.

If instead a new plan was taken out separately (not as an upgrade):

  • The old contract would still run alongside it
