When I change plan at the end of my contract does my number move with me?

If it’s only a change of plan or an upgrade, yes. If you purchase a new plan, no.

To upgrade, try contacting the iD Mobile sales team directly to discuss your options.

  • Call the sales team on 020 7139 1397.
  • The sales team is available between 9am - 6pm.

Hi @Kittentamer300

As @WelshPaul suggests, as long as you’re doing a plan change or an upgrade, your number, account etc will stay the same.

If you purchase a new plan, that’d be entirely separate and wouldn’t affect any existing plans you have.

I just had this discussion with ID via their live chat.

You are able to keep your number with ID if you upgrade your contract to a new plan. If you take out a new contract with ID with hopes of moving your number over, then you’re out of luck, they supposedly can’t do an internal transfer of an ID number to a new ID contract, utterly ridiculous…

I asked the question when I spotted that new contracts have way better deals than what I’m offered on upgrades, so goodbye ID Mobile for me.

Hi there @KDLewis, this is the same for all networks, and not an exlusive rule for iD Mobile. You cannot internally transfer your number between contracts on the same network, for any network.

We’re sorry you feel that way, but if you wish to discuss upgrade deals further, please call our Sales Team on 0207 1391 397 between 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday.

Thanks,

Tyler

@Tyler C you are completely incorrect, I know this is I have done it with Vodafone and EE on multiple occasions. If ID wish to keep customers, they either need to improve their service and make it easier to do something as simple as keeping a number, or match upgrade prices to their new contract offers.

Hi there @KDLewis, I can confirm that transferring your number from an old contract to a new contract isn’t exclusive to iD. To keep your number, you’d have needed to plan change or upgrade, the same with us, or complete a triangle port. From checking Vodaphones and EE’s sites now, I can also confirm that same network switching isn’t available, and you can only keep your number via the same three methods with us and with any network.

As mentioned, you can discuss upgrade deals further with our sales team on the number above.

Thanks,

Tyler

@Tyler C I was told that a triangle port was not possible while I was asking on ID live chat, it’s a really slow option at the best of times anyway, but not having customer services even know about the option is just pathetic really. I’ve never had this much trouble trying to keep something as simple as a number.

I’ve given up looking for a deal with ID now anyway, I’ve never seen worse upgrade options, and customer services have been a complete pain to deal with, can’t wait to get out of contract.

I am very disappointed to hear this @KDLewis , and I am sorry for the poor service you have recieved.

I think perhaps some agents advise against a triangle port as there is the chance something could go wrong and a number may be lost, but the onus of that is on the customer to process the ports correctly. To some it may be a little confusing and overwhelming; but you can certainly process a triangular port if you wish.
