In the UK, if a brand new phone develops a fault within the first year of a 2-year contract, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you have the right to ask the retailer for a repair or replacement, as the product should be of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose; you can even request a full refund within the first 30 days of purchase if the fault is significant.
But also you have to prove the device is faulty, for Samsung to say your device has be dropped is one thing. There has be reports of screens malfunction and Samsung are aware of it on these devices. It's time consuming I know but if you can find another Samsung service centre to take your device to is worth a shot.
Not that it helps you I an issue with a Samsung device a few years back and it was the motherboard and a known issue with Samsung. I Got my Galaxy Note motherboard replaced within it's warranty free of charge 18 months in use after proving it was the device.
