Trading in your old phone is quick, easy, and good for both your wallet and the planet. Here’s how to cash in on your unused tech:

How do I trade in my old phone?

  1. Get a Quote

Head to our online tool and enter your phone’s details or IMEI number (dial *#06# to find this). Let us know its condition, and we’ll give you an instant quote.

We accept most brands, networks, and models, even if they’re broken, non-working, or not bought from us.

  1. Send Us Your Phone

Happy with the quote? Enter your details and we’ll send you a prepaid postage bag (this can take up to 10 working days to arrive).

Once it arrives, package your phone securely and pop it in the post to Currys. You don't need to include any accessories.

Make sure you’ve removed all your personal data from the phone. If you haven’t done this, don’t worry, we’ll handle the data wipe for you.

Important: Please remove your personal data and turn off Find My iPhone or Google's Factory Reset Protection before posting. If these are still on, we can't process your trade-in and will have to return the phone to you.

  1. Inspection Time

Once received, a Currys tech expert will inspect your phone to check it matches the condition you described. If everything is correct, we’ll proceed with payment.

If the condition differs from your description, we may need to adjust the offer. We’ll email you with the new quote, which you can accept or reject.

  1. Get Paid

Once the condition is confirmed, you’ll receive your payment directly to your bank account within 3-5 working days.

How do I claim an enhanced trade-in?

If you bought a new phone with an ‘Enhanced Trade-In’ promotion, there is one extra step.

You must fill out this claim form before sending your phone back. This links your new purchase to your trade-in.

You will receive two separate payments:

  • One for the standard trade-in value of your old phone.
  • A second payment for the promotional ‘enhanced’ amount.

Note: Phones classed as "Beyond Economical Repair" (e.g. snapped in half, crushed) have zero value and do not qualify for enhanced trade-in promotions.

What happens with my phone once it’s traded-in?

If your phone is in good condition, it will likely be refurbished and given a new lease of life.

If it has some damage but still has usable parts, we might strip it down and recycle the components, ensuring that valuable materials don’t go to waste.

And if it’s beyond repair, we’ll ensure it’s recycled properly, keeping it out of landfill and helping to reduce e-waste.

I've not received my trade-in credit or received less than expected. What should I do?

If you have any issues with your payment or postage bag, please contact the Currys Trade-In team directly at TradeUpHelp@currys.co.uk.
