How do I return my iPhone 18 Pro Max?
The new iPhone 18 Pro Max has the biggest battery of any iPhone. Due to transport regulations for phones with larger lithium batteries, it requires a different returns process. For now, if you need to return your phone, take it to any Currys store with proof of purchase.
What do I need to do?
If you want to return your iPhone 18 Pro Max, here’s what to do:
Before you go:
- Back up anything on your phone you want to keep.
- Turn off Find My iPhone.
- Restore your phone to factory settings, to remove your personal data.
- Remove your SIM card, if you have one fitted.
At the store:
- Take your phone to any Currys store, it doesn’t need to be the one you bought it from.
- Bring proof of purchase, and everything that came with your phone if you still have it.
- That’s it, no need to contact us first or arrange a delivery.

Why can’t I post my iPhone 18 Pro Max back?
Phones with batteries over 20 watt-hours (Wh) are covered by transport regulations that apply across the courier and postal industry, not just to us. The iPhone 18 Pro Max’s battery is over that limit, so it can’t travel the way other phones do.
Is there a safety problem with the iPhone 18 Pro Max or its battery?
No, there isn’t. The iPhone 18 Pro Max meets all the same safety standards as any other iPhone. The reason it can’t be posted back is down to transport rules for shipping large lithium-ion batteries, it’s not because of any concern about the phone or battery itself.
Will this delay the delivery of my new phone?
No, this only affects returns, not deliveries. If you’ve ordered an iPhone 18 Pro Max, it’ll arrive as normal.
What if my phone is faulty, rather than me changing my mind?
The same process applies either way. Take your phone to any Currys store with proof of purchase, and they’ll take it from there.
When will I get my refund?
Once your return’s been received and checked, we’ll refund any upfront payment within 14 days.
