Canada & USA data roaming

I’m on a cruise to Canada and the USA from 02/09/2025 to 02/10/2025 and these two countries are not in the 50 free roaming countries.

There will be sea days which I do not need the roaming but I do need data roaming on shore days.

It says £5/day but there is no option to choose the dates.

can someone help me please? Thank you

You need to make certain when on board that roaming is turned off, as connecting

to SHIP’s satellite internet is incredibly expensive.

I’m aware of satellite roaming on the cruise, I’m asking about shore days (when I’m on land) using ID Mobile add-ons for roaming data

Hi @LyndaLim

When you’re at sea, we recommend you don’t use your phone, and put it in flight/airplane mode until you get to shore. This is because using your phone while at sea can be very expensive.

Ferry and cruise operators often use their own phone network that’s operated via satellite. Connecting to a satellite network is much more expensive then connecting to a land operated network.

Roaming at sea.

Roaming (at sea). Cost.

Calls received* £1.50
Text to Ships, Ferries &Cruise Liners** £1.20

*** Data is charged or deducted in one kilobyte (KB) increments and any part KB used will be rounded up to the nearest KB.

We also offer Roam Beyond data add-ons for 1 day, 5 days, and 10 days. These can run across different billing periods depending on when you purchased it. You can check when an add-on is due to expire by going to the dashboard of your iD Mobile app or at my.idmobile.co.uk/login under ‘Add-ons’.

I hope this helps.

I purchased an add-on for 5 days for the USA. after 5 minutes of use calling back home, I got cut off with the message stating that my bill cap has nearly reached its limit. How so?

If these issues carry on for much longer, then I will be changing my phone provider.

#Anyone any answers please?

Hi @steve6027 the add on is for data only, not calls. You would need to use an online calling service such as Whatsapp. A normal phone call would be chargeable.
