I’m currently on a SIM only contract and now going to Canada for 6-12 months. Can I keep my current number on an eSIM package and pause/cancel my iD pacakage here?

Hi @Lenniebear,

Thanks for getting in touch, and I hope your move to Canada goes well.

Unfortunately, iD Mobile does not currently offer the option to pause or temporarily suspend a SIM only plan whilst you are abroad. You would still be charged for the duration that the account is active.

You would be able to continue using your iD SIM in Canada for roaming purposes, however, our roaming services are intended for temporary travel only and are subject to fair usage policies. Extended usage abroad over a long period of time may lead to roaming restrictions or additional charges being applied.

If you no longer wish to keep the plan active, you can choose to cancel the contract. However, if your SIM only plan is still within its minimum contract term, an early termination fee would apply. Please also note that cancelling the plan would result in the loss of your iD Mobile number unless it is transferred to another provider before cancellation.

If keeping your number is important to you, you may wish to look into alternative options such as porting the number elsewhere before travelling.

You can also read about the fair usage policy here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/help-and-support/eu-roaming/fair-usage-policy

We hope this helps clarify things a little.

Regards,
