iD sim won't reactivate

After adding a second sim card (U.S coverage) to my mobile the iD sim has deactivated and I can’t see any way to activate it again?

Hi @Griffingreen

Okay, if the iD Mobile SIM card was deactivated in the device you may need a replacement SIM, which can be picked up from any Currys store and activated here.

Alternatively, we can assist with having one sent out or sending out an eSIM if you wish.

Hi @Griffingreen,

Welcome to the Community!

Was the SIM used in the UK first?

The SIM will have needed to be used in the UK first before it can be used abroad.

Does the SIM show a SIM on your network settings.

Hi, @Kash

Yes I had been using it for a few month in the UK and I think for a couple of days in Paris before I activated the International SIM in the 2nd SIM slot in my phone. It seems the activating of this second SIM deactivated my iD SIM and any attempt to reactivate it again is met with an “activation failed” message.

Hello, I have seen the advice to reset WiFi etc and gone to Curry's to ask for a replacement sim, if you can't re-activate your som card. The member of staff in Curry's couldn't get a replacement sim to activate on my ID mobile account. He then told me that if I had cancelled my sim on the the ID mobile app, which I had, then a replacement sim wouldn't work. I want to keep my phone number and I have a PAC, I just need an ID sim to work. Any advice on what to do?

Hi @Julie O'Neil

Thanks for posting.

If a plan has been cancelled, a new one would need to be ordered.

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to move a number directly from one iD Mobile account to another iD Mobile account.

We'd require a PAC code from another network to move a number to an account. In this case, you may be able to try the following triangle port method;

1) Get a PAC code for the number you wish to keep.

2) Purchase a Pay As You Go (PAYG) SIM from any OTHER network.

3) Give your PAC code to the new PAYG SIM provider to transfer your number from iD Mobile to the PAYG network.

4) Once it's been transferred over, this sends your number to the new network on PAYG and cancels your old contract with us automatically, the final bill will be sent via email. 5) Once the number has fully transferred to the PAYG network allow 24 hours and then request a PAC code from them.

6) Transfer your number to the new iD Mobile plan via PAC code at the link below, once the transfer is fully complete your PAYG SIM will be disconnected and the desired number will be on the new iD Mobile account. https://switching.idmobile.co.uk

Note; With a new iD Mobile account, you'll need to register a new iD Mobile app/website account to using an email address that hasn't been used previously to register.

Thanks,

Nat
