Question

not possible to ring Dutch number, neither from UK not from Belgium

I want to ring a standard Dutch landline number, but both when in UK and in Belgium, it immediately blocks with the message “your service does not allow this number”.
While I have free calls within my plan - so that should include all Band 1 destinations, and both roaming and WiFi calling are switched on.

    Hi @iaws

Thank you for reaching out, and I'm sorry you're having difficulty calling the Dutch landline. I understand why this is confusing when you have inclusive minutes available.

If you're receiving the message "your service does not allow this number", please check the following:

    • Make sure the International Calling feature is enabled in the iD Mobile app.
    • Check your Bill Cap, as international calls may be chargeable and can be blocked if your Bill Cap is set to £0.
    • If necessary, increase your Bill Cap to allow chargeable international calls.
    • If you're currently in Belgium, make sure roaming is enabled on both your account and handset.
    • If you're calling the Dutch number from the UK, calls to international numbers aren't included in your standard UK allowance and may require available Bill Cap. When roaming in Belgium, calls to eligible Band 1 destinations such as the Netherlands may be included in your roaming allowance, subject to your plan's terms.

If the International Calling feature is active and your Bill Cap allows chargeable usage but the call is still being blocked, please contact us via Live Chat so we can check this further for you.

    • International calling is enabled.
    • Bill cap is set to £5 - that should be more than enough for a short call.
    • Roaming is enabled on both handset and ID setup.
    • My plan’s terms allow Band 1 calls when in another Band 1 country.

So everything is correctly set up. Why then does it block ?

Your live chat will have to solve it.

    Hi @iaws.

Thanks for the detailed info, it does sound like everything is set up correctly on your side.

In cases like this, international calls can still be blocked if:

    • The £5 bill cap is too low for the specific call/destination charges, or
    • There’s an additional restriction or flag on the account that needs reviewing.

To check this properly and adjust your settings if needed, please contact our live chat team here: https://www.idmobile.co.uk/live-chat.

They’ll be able to look at your account in real time, confirm whether the cap or a restriction is causing the block, and get this resolved for you.

    Thanks,
