Will I be charged if I receive a call from the UK when connected to wifi in a country not in your 50 free countries list?

Hi @HilaryM,

Thanks for getting in touch 👍

Yes even if you’re connected to Wi-Fi, if your phone is roaming on a mobile network in a country not included in your free roaming destinations, you will still be charged for receiving calls. This is because Wi-Fi does not carry mobile calls unless you’re using a Wi-Fi calling feature specifically active and supported on your account/device.

📌 Important point

  • Receiving calls while roaming = chargeable (outside included destinations)
  • WiFi connection alone does not stop roaming charges

💡 How to protect yourself from unexpected charges

You can set your Bill Cap to £0, which blocks any out-of-plan usage charges:

📲 Set Bill Cap to £0 via the iD Mobile app:

  1. Open the iD Mobile app
  2. Log in to your account
  3. Go to “My Account”
  4. Select “Bill Cap”
  5. Set the cap to £0
  6. Confirm the change

⚠️ What this does

  • Prevents any chargeable usage outside your allowance
  • Helps avoid unexpected roaming bills
  • May block some services while abroad if they are chargeable
